I. The first step to check either listed browser:
click on Help (located on the upper toolbar).
II. Given you have Internet Explorer:
A. Click on About Internet Explorer;
B. Within the smaller box which is presented and
labeled Microsoft Internet Explorer, note the
amount on the right of the line identified by
Cipher Strength: (40-bit, 56-bit or 128-bit).
C. After learning the encryption level for your
browser, that same smaller box may be closed
by clicking on either of its OK or X buttons.
III. Given you have Netscape Communicator/Navigator:
A. Click on About Communicator (or Navigator);
B. Within the new page which is presented and
labeled Netscape Communicator, scroll down
to the RSA logo; if the text beside it reads:
1. This version supports U.S. security ...
then it has 128-bit encryption; otherwise,
2. This version supports International ...
then it has 40-bit or 56-bit encryption.
C. After learning the encryption level for your
browser, click on your browser's Back
button to return to this web page.
